Time to Eat Your Broccoli

I don’t obsess over email metrics, but sometimes I’m too curious not to look.

Here’s the thing:

(1) If you want to earn anything, you need people to see what you have to offer — whether it’s your own product or something you’re offering as an affiliate.

(2) Therefore, you need to know how to drive traffic or build an audience (which is hard if you don’t know what you’re doing).

Yesterday’s email contained two absolutely foolproof ways to do this.

And it got my lowest open rate of the year.

So I shall gently push back:

People: you need to eat your broccoli, so to speak. Topics like this may not sound fun, but they are absolutely the difference between success and failure online.

It’s covered a bit in the webinar replay from this week, too (and which you can view via the bonuses link below), so that will help.

Oh, and I’ve added $2K worth of bonuses.

(And no, that’s not Internet marketerspeak, where they take $20 worth of crap and call it a $7000 bonus. This is the most massive bonus I’ve ever offered.)

What does $2K worth of bonuses look like?

How to Build an Audience That Will Buy From You

Here’s one of the most valuable emails I’ve written in 2018. Do this, and you’ll see results.

Let me deal with this: “Woods, you have an audience. Of course you make sales. How could I expect to make sales and/or earn affiliate commissions?”

Here’s how:

If your niche is dogs, join Facebook groups about dogs, add value to the conversations, and then find out who the really engaged folks are. Add them as friends.

You now have a targeted audience to whom you can pitch things and earn commissions. (How to pitch non-obnoxiously? See the webinar replay below.)

Marketers in decades past would have slit throats to do what you can start doing this very afternoon.

Do something similar on Twitter. Find leaders in your niche, and see who’s most engaged with them. Follow and interact with those people, and build up a Twitter following that will be interested in what you have to offer.

There’s nobody who can’t do this.

We talked about this in yesterday’s webinar.

We also talked about how I’m earning commissions on __products I’m not even promoting__.

As I left the Soho Forum last week, where I watched Bob Murphy debate fractional-reserve banking, I got a phone notification telling me I’d just earned a $1000 commission on a product that was not part of any blog post, email campaign, podcast advertisement, or anything else I’d been doing at the time.

How does something like that happen?

I’ve got a replay of the presentation in which we discussed it — but as with all these replays, it’s up for an extremely brief window of time.

While the rest of America keeps on as if it’s 1957, here’s what’s possible in 2018:

Because I’m Sick of Libertarians Being Broke, I’m Doing This

So-called progressives think libertarians are just rich folks who want to hoard their wealth.

As usual, progressives have no idea what they’re talking about.

Libertarians are some of the brokest people I know.

Sad!

They talk a lot about capitalism. Almost none of them actually do capitalism.

This frustrates me to no end.

Here’s an easy way for the ambitious to get started: I recommend a particular product that every libertarian should be promoting as an affiliate. Each sale earns you over $100 in commission.

It’s a product that helps a lot of folks, and which people will thank you for promoting.

And if you promote it using the strategies I recommend, you’ll get better results, period.

I reveal this product in the video I’ve made you that pulls back the curtain on my online businesses: what I do, how I do it, and how my experience might be applicable to you.

This is a valuable video, you can be sure.

Yet I’m giving it away as a free bonus just for attending my webinar on Wednesday and staying until the end of the presentation.

Another free bonus for attending: a done-for-you website selling a highly useful product that you get resell rights to — which means that whenever someone orders, you keep all the dough.

These are bonuses just for sitting there and watching our Wednesday presentation.

I’m not saying everyone in the world would want these bonuses. Some people, after all, are clinically insane.

As for everyone else, here’s how to sign up:

How I Did It

Remember the film Young Frankenstein? The grandson of the famous Victor discovers his grandfather’s notes in a preposterously titled book: How I Did It.

I’m about to give you the Woods version of How I Did It (except it’s a video).

I went from generating $50 a month (and thinking that was pretty neat!) through the Amazon affiliate program, to now running several successful Internet businesses.

I had no training in this.

I’ve made a long and detailed video taking you behind the scenes of everything I do, how I monetize it, what my strategies are, and a whole lot more.

The wheels will start turning as you watch this thing, trust me.

How do you get it?

I’m not selling it.

I’m giving it away to my readers for free, as a bonus.

To claim it, click the link below to attend this upcoming live webinar with me, and stay until the end of the presentation. Then the bonus is yours.

You’d want to attend this webinar anyway: it’s about an extraordinary expert who, almost more than any single person on Earth, has helped me succeed.

Let me be blunt: I’ve pulled in an astonishing pile of dough thanks to this guy. (It came so easily that I wound up giving every dime of it away to causes I believe in.)

So not only does the webinar give you get a glimpse inside how I did that, but you also get a pretty darn valuable bonus: that How I Did It behind-the-scenes video of my Internet business life.

If that video doesn’t help you, you may be unconscious.

So remember: it’s free. Just attend the webinar, which will be great, and when we’re all done I’ll send it to you as a bonus for attending.

Sign up here, before you forget:

P.S. Braggy income claims, which you’ll encounter on the signup page, are OK when they’re true, which in this fellow’s case, they are.

Woods, How Do You Get So Much Done? My Embarrassing Answer

I’m not saying you’re lazy. You’re probably not.

But if you’re like me, and the rest of the human race, you’d rather reach your goals with the least possible effort.

I’m getting good at that.

Instead of writing eBooks from scratch, I convert my podcast episodes into transcripts, and release them as books. That’s called “repurposing,” which sounds nicer than “lazy man’s method.”

Instead of creating everything from scratch, I sometimes buy licensing rights. I once bought a license to resell a plugin I use (it generates very nice countdown timers for my promotions).

That means I didn’t have to develop the plugin myself (as if a tech idiot like me would know the first thing about that). I could just sell it and keep all the dough.

As I mentioned in a previous email, I once bought the rights to an extremely helpful course, which has helped a great many of my listeners, for $97, and turned it into (as of this writing) $44,793.

Sure beats creating it from scratch, especially when I couldn’t have done nearly as good a job myself.

Still, I had to sell these things, and some people are spooked by selling. It sounds hard.

So what if all you had to do was give things away?

What if all you had to do was give away genuinely valuable training, of the kind a huge number of people are looking for?

I’ve done it myself.

You’re the good guy: you just give away free stuff.

Then the sales funnel takes over.

The prospect is then presented with a $9.95 upgrade. If he takes it, you get all $9.95.

He’s then presented with a $97 upgrade. If he takes that, you get all $97.

Meanwhile, you haven’t had to sell a thing. You’ve just given away valuable content that people will thank you for.

I’ve done this (if you’ve been on my list for a while, this will ring a bell) myself, and I can attest that it works.

I lay it all out for you in what I’m pretty certain you’ll find a valuable backgrounder (though FYI I’m taking the video down Monday night):

My Uphill Battle Against Insane People on Twitter

I took my car in for an interior cleaning today. One hour, they said.

Three hours and fifteen minutes later, I was on my way.

Yes, I should have been working during that time, but instead I wound up arguing with emotional hypochondriacs on Twitter who think Jordan Peterson — of all people — spreads “conspiracy theories about Jews.”

You’d think Peterson couldn’t be any clearer about how he feels about stuff like that, but you’d be wrong.

I tried to explain, as patiently as I could, that the idea that someone of Peterson’s prominence would be openly anti-Semitic is inconceivable, and that only someone completely tone-deaf regarding how American society works could think such a thing.

Couldn’t penetrate the concrete blocks around their brains, unfortunately.

Then a rapper tweeted that a Heineken light beer commercial was “racist” (as if a reputation for racism is what American businesses want).

I replied: “You are mentally ill.”

I’m glad the Easter Triduum is upon us: I’ll have a few days of quiet to drown out the loonies.

That also means this is the last time I’ll be offering you that course on how to earn smackers by sharing your knowledge on Skillshare.

The course includes the right to resell it and keep all the profits.

That’s not a misprint: these guys made you a product and are handing it to you, complete with a done-for-you sales page.

(Even if you don’t want to sell it, you’ll definitely learn from it.)

And it costs less than dinner at Chili’s.

But it’s on a dimesale, which means the price constantly inches upward, so stop it in its tracks now:

You’d Better Not Make Un-P.C. Comments About Test Scores

Amy Wax of the University of Pennsylvania Law School got yanked from teaching an important first-year lecture class after students objected — I mean, threw a tantrum over — remarks she made about different students’ academic performance.

In a discussion of affirmative action, she told Glenn Loury (who is black) that in her experience, black students were not scoring toward the top of the class.

“I can think of one or two students who scored in the top half of my required first-year course,” she said, “so I’m going on that because a lot of this data is a closely guarded secret.”

These aren’t interpretations. They’re facts.

About 15 black students a year score at least 168 on the LSAT; the average score at the top law schools ranges from 169 into the 170s. That means every one of these students could be absorbed by just one law school. We therefore know for certain that black candidates are being held to a lower standard. The math allows for no other result.

What we do about these facts, or why they are what they are, are completely separate questions. But if we’re not even allowed to discuss the facts, what on earth is going on?

Professor Wax, meanwhile, is badgered and harassed by mobs, and surely only tenure is what has saved her from being fired.

If even raw, indisputable facts aren’t allowed, are you sure you’re safe?

Good advice: build up additional income streams, so you can give the p.c. terrorizers the finger if it should ever come to that.

Chances are, your job doesn’t have tenure.

One of the easiest and most fun ways to do this is laid out very effectively in this video, which I strongly urge you to take the time to watch. It’s going to be taken down in the coming days.

My listeners swear by the woman teaching this, and have been doing great with it.

Well worth your time, trust me:

I Just Kicked My Uber Driver in the Rear End

Last week, on our way to La Guardia Airport my daughter Veronica and I rode in a car with someone who needed a swift kick in the pants.

The guy wrote music with others in mind — artists, yes, but also firms, industries, whatever. He played me demos of his music and what precisely he had in mind with each one.

I was afraid it was going to be awful.

But it was great!

So what is he doing to get this music out there?

Nothing.

He was in some kind of weird mindset paralysis. What was he expecting to happen? He just sits there, and things change for him?

So I started talking to him about what his next steps should be, and that he has just got to get over the paralysis — perhaps even the self-doubt? — and get moving.

He thanked me, sincerely.

It was a great experience.

Can you relate to his paralysis, though?

It’s your mortal enemy. Nothing changes unless you take action.

Here’s something to take action on.

It turns out that simple, ugly mugs, with text only and in black and white, sell very well on Amazon, as Rachel Rofe teaches.

An idiot can use the service that makes them.

No need to hold inventory, either.

A simple, straightforward way to make sales — and moolah — online. Plenty of my subscribers are already in Rachel’s private Facebook group, and they swear by her. Not to mention something entrepreneurial young people can learn to do.

In her webinar tomorrow she’s going to show you how to do it.

Now let me be up front: at the end she’s going to make you an offer. It’s a really good one. But you can absolutely do what she describes without taking that offer.

Unlike so many webinar hosts — the kind I avoid like the plague, by the way — she doesn’t give you platitudes for 60 minutes and then ask for dough to give you the full story. Trust me: you will be very impressed by how much you learn.

The last time I sent my folks to a webinar with her, people raved about it for days.

Every journey starts with a single step, blah blah blah.

Here’s yours:

How These Three Students Won the Thomas E. Woods Prize

Here’s a happy story.

Last year, Jeffrey Herbener of Grove City College appeared on my show. He’s the economics department chairman there. I asked him off the air how his Austrian Student Scholars Conference was coming along for 2018.

He said there might not be one. Funding sources were drying up.

This conference is an important transmission belt for us: young people working in the Austrian School tradition — a school of thought that includes Mises, Hayek, and Rothbard — make their first scholarly foray into our world via this conference. I felt strongly that it should go on.

I told him I’d make up the difference.

So we went back on the air and casually announced that of course the conference was on for 2018.

One of the things my donation funded was the cash prizes for the top three papers, which were awarded a few days ago at the conference. The Thomas E. Woods Prizes were distributed as follows:

First Prize: Anthony Rozmajzl, “The True Economic Impacts of Blockchain Technology”

Second Prize: Melissa Lueken, “A Methodological Consideration of Behavioral Economics”

Third Prize: Daniel Sanchez-Pinol Yulee, “Risk and the Capital Structure: A Causal-Realist Approach”

Now what does this have to do with anything?

The money I donated to this worthy cause came entirely out of the earnings I’d pulled in from applying what I’d learned from one of the masters of the online universe. (I publicly thanked him on Facebook at the time for making it possible.)

In fact, I ended up taking every last dime I earned from this guy’s stuff and giving it all away to people and causes that really needed it.

I had never been in a position to do that before. It felt good.

And it’s not because I have a big audience, by the way; in this area I don’t have such a big audience, and I’m still beating affiliates with ten times the following I have.

What’s my secret?
