How My Teenager Can Be Set by the Time She’s 18: Lesson for Us All

Posted by: By Tom Woods | November 18, 2017

OK, so I guess I’ve been going about this wrong.

For at least two years I’ve been urging my now 14-year-old daughter, Regina, to think about launching her own podcast. She has an area she’s very knowledgeable and passionate about, and there are few podcasts about it.

It’s the perfect combination: something she loves, plus something she could probably monetize (I have ideas aplenty, believe me).

I kept emphasizing the monetization angle. I said that if she started now, by the time she’s 18 she’ll actually have a decent income from this side hustle of hers. And that would mean she could, in her professional life, do whatever she wanted without worrying about salary.

Her side income from podcasting, in other words, would free her to do what she loves.

A persuasive argument!

Yet I could never quite get her to go ahead with it.

So that was Dad’s effort, spread out intermittently over two years.

Mom spoke to her for 20 minutes the other day and persuaded her to do it (!).

We haven’t yet had the full family discussion, but I rather suspect Mom focused on the passion side of things.

Maybe 14-year-olds aren’t as worried about finances as I thought.

But it’s still a good point: the sooner you start, the faster you’ll get to where you want to be.

That’s the subtext of all my good-natured emails to you.

I’ve made it even easier for you to start cashing in online the way countless knuckleheads are already doing, by snagging you a free membership at Affiliate Profits Club, which has a bunch of step-by-step videos on how to earn commissions via affiliate marketing, which I myself love dearly.

It’s also got a section full of resources that will help you get started and be successful.

It’s $27 for other people, but FOT (Friends of Tom) get in for $0.

Now there truly is no excuse….
