“Hey, Tom,” said a marketing genius I know — we’ll call him Merlin — back in early 2011. “How are you monetizing your website?”
“You have a following,” Merlin said. “So what’s your monetization strategy?”
My reply? “Well, I, uh, belong to the Amazon affiliate program, so I earn $1.50 or so every time someone buys a book through my link….”
You should have seen his horrified face.
I kid you not: right there, on the spot, he flat-out TOLD me what I should be doing. I should create a digital product based on my strengths.
It was pretty obvious after he said it, but trust me, it wasn’t obvious before.
After I created that product my life was far less insane, financially precarious, and uncertain.
But Woods, you say, of course I’d like to do the same, but what would I do, and how would I do it?
Answer: brainstorm with your own Merlin.
I happen to have a link to him:

Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, which means I earn a commission if you click on them and buy something. This helps me keep the lights on around here. Naturally, I don't recommend a product unless I have used and benefited from it myself, or I have researched it enough to determine it to be of good quality and likely to benefit my readers. I don't promote anything created by the swamp dwellers. Thanks for reading!
